WD at LAN sites

Purpose: To allow the weather station to be connected to a PC which is not in the desired viewing location but is on the same LAN.

General: Depending on whether this PC is the source of the data (server) or is a viewer workstation (client), follow the steps in the proper paragraph below. When completed, all data collected from the weather station by the server PC will be broadcast on the LAN. This broadcast data will be received by all client PCs and displayed on their WD screens.

At the PC where the weather station is connected: Click on "Setup" in the menu bar. Click on "Setup / FTP / Internet ...". Click on the tab labeled "TCP/IP Client/Server". Click the button at the upper left side labeled "Server Enabled". You may want to click the button labeled "Show indoor temp/hum on client". Click OK.

At each PC where the weather data is to be viewed: Install WD on the machine. Follow the procedures in QuickStart but choose a station type of "Stationless". You do not need to select a Comm. port, nor do you have to enable FTP.

Click on "Setup" in the menu bar. Click on "Setup / FTP / Internet ...". Click on the tab labeled "TCP/IP Client/Server". Click the button at the middle left side labeled "Client Enabled". You may want to click the button labeled "Show indoor temp/hum on client". Click OK. WD at Internet Sites

Purpose: To allow the weather station to be connected to a PC which is not on the local LAN, but does have an internet connection.

Click on the box in the lower left corner labeled "The data is from over the internet". Fill in the URL of the station supplying the data. Fill in your LAN's PROXY information if appropriate. Click OK. "Client Viewer" at LAN sites

Purpose: To provide an alternative method of viewing WD data.

You can set WD to create either locally on a server the clientraw.txt file, or FTP to your web / ftp server either every 3 seconds (under web files setup) or at the times you select under the advanced internet setup (customize internet file creation). For this latter, you need to tick to update this file, under the client/server in the setup, internet setup (you do not need to have WD setup as a client or server to have this file updated by simply ticking that option) Then you can use the free client viewer to view the weather data, updated as every 3 seconds in the viewer. You need to set the viewer to use the data from over the internet in the setup, and enter the url of the clientraw.txt file. The alternative is to use a fixed IP address to your server station.
